MAC Ltd commenced operations in July 1988 with their appointment
as sole UK distributors for Konvekta AG, manufacturers of air conditioning
systems for commercial vehicles. MAC have established a reputation
for quality and service supplying and installing air conditioning
for special vehicle manufacturers. These include Mercedes Benz ,
LDV, Land Rover , Iveco and many overseas Governments, Health Authorities
and Military Forces.
In 1989 MAC were appointed the sole UK distributor for Signet Systems
Inc Germany. Signet Systems specialise in the manufacture of high
quality A/C systems for Mercedes Benz, BMW and other prestigious
cars. Signet Systems have achieved an enviable reputation for precision
products and are suppliers to major vehicle manufacturers.
During 1992 MAC were awarded a major Ministry of Defence contract
to supply and install air conditioning systems to a large number
of military buses destined for the Far East. To comply with the
conditions of the MOD contract , and having terminated their contract
with Konvekta AG , MAC installed high quality units produced by
Transair Manufacturing Corporation USA.
In 1993 MAC became the first aftermarket air conditioning company
to be awarded the Quality Standard BS5750 (now ISO 9002). This accreditation
confirms MAC's commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards
throughout it's organisation.
In April 1994 MAC Ltd were appointed as a distributor for Hispacold
SA, Spain. Hispacold are a major manufacturer of Bus and Coach air
conditioning systems and are original equipment suppliers to many
European Bus and Coach manufacturers.
During May 1994 MAC were approached by Thermal Werke of Germany
to act as service agents. Thermal Werke are the manufacturers of
the Climate Control system fitted as original equipment to the Bova
range of coaches. In August 1994 MAC were appointed as a service
centre by Bova to support the Thermal product.
In November 1994 MAC secured the largest contract ever awarded
in the UK aftermarket for the supply and installation of Citybus
Climate Control Systems on Mercedes chassis and Optare bodies.
MAC provide A/C service to the Scania network supporting the Hispacold
product installed as OE equipment on the Irizar coaches.
In June 1996 MAC were appointed as the official A/C service agents
for Daewoo Cars covering all A/C service and warranty on a national
basis.
In December 1996 MAC became OE suppliers to LDV for driver cab
air conditioning and subsequently Minibus air conditioning.
MAC are the approved supplier of A/C systems to the London Ambulance
NHS Trust and currently have 200 units in service with a further
200 planned to enter service during 1998/9.
In 1997 MAC became OE suppliers to Mercedes Benz for Blown Heating
systems fitted to the MB0405N Citybus and the 0405GN Articulated
Citybus and currently have 120 units in service with a further 100
planned for 1998/9.
In addition to the 0405 Citybus MAC supplies the Climate Control
system for the MB0404 coaches built in Spain for the UK market.
In 1999 MAC were appointed as service agents for Thermo King Bus
and Coach air conditioning products.
In March 1999 MAC Ltd moved into spacious new purpose built premises
in Stonehouse Gloucestershire.
In early 2000 MAC Ltd were awarded 2 major contracts, firstly to
supply air conditioning to Linde Lancing forklift trucks and secondly
the supply of air conditioning units to British Gas through Renault
UK.
In August 2000 MAC Ltd were again awarded the London Ambulance
contract for the supply and servicing of their emergency ambulance
air conditioning systems.
MAC currently employs a permanent staff of fully qualified vehicle
air conditioning Installation and Service engineers. This Technical
team cater for Installation and Service from their Stonehouse Headquarters
near Gloucester.
The company also operates a mobile service network covering A/C
service and repair.
The Directors of MAC have been involved exclusively in the vehicle
air conditioning industry since 1974 and during the past 24 years
have played a major role in the expansion , marketing and promotion
within the industry.
